GB50 Hydraulic Grab Jaw (Diaphragm Wall Grab Shell)
The Bauer-GB50 is a dedicated diaphragm wall grab carrier (base rig), typically paired with Bauer-DHG-V (standard) and  series hydraulic grabs. The grab jaw (also called grab shell or clamshell bucket) is the core excavation component that directly cuts, scoops and lifts soil during slurry-supported diaphragm wall construction.

Structure & Working Principle
Double-jaw clamshell design: Two symmetrical jaw shells are hinged to the upper grab frame. A vertically mounted hydraulic cylinder drives push rods to open and close the jaws, generating high cutting and clamping force.
The jaw unit is rope-guided and suspended from the GB50 carrier. It can be equipped with an optional TD4 turning device for 360° rotation, enabling precise trench alignment and convenient soil dumping in confined sites.
Integrated verticality correction cylinders and steering plates work with the jaw frame to maintain accurate trench geometry even in heterogeneous ground conditions.
Material & Wear Resistance Design
Jaw body: Constructed from heavy-duty high-strength structural steel (S355J2 grade or equivalent). The jaw root (high bending moment area) uses 40–50 mm thick plate, while the main shell body uses 20–30 mm thick plate for structural rigidity and impact resistance.
Cutting edges & teeth: The bottom lip of each jaw is fitted with replaceable cutting teeth. For soft to medium soil, cast manganese steel inserts are standard; for dense gravel, sandy cobble or weathered rock, tungsten-carbide-tipped bits are available as an upgrade.
Replaceable side wear plates can be added to the outer faces of the jaws to extend service life in highly abrasive strata.
